In a game the Knicks badly needed the Knicks coughed up a 14 point lead but escaped with a victory. Strong play from Kyle O'Quinn and Kristaps Porzingis helped the Knicks overcome another poor 4th quarter and questionable crunch time reffing.
The Knicks star has been inconsistent over the last several games but tonight Porzingis had a strong night scoring with 29 points and 8 rebounds.
Courtney Lee has shouldered a lot more responsibility on the Knicks team since Tim Hardaway Jr. went down but Lee struggled with his shot tonight, going 3/10 and missing several shots badly. Even with his struggles, Lee came through down the stretch hitting 4 clutch free throws to secure the victory.
- Lee has made has last 42 free throw attempts, 2 short of the Knicks record set by Chris Duhon.
- In a much anticipated match up, Frank Ntilikina had a strong game with 7 points 7 rebounds and 5 assists while the player picked immediately after him, Dennis Smith Jr., finished with 11 points 3 rebounds and 5 assists.
- Willy Hernangomez saw 4th quarter minutes, spelling Porzingis for s short stretch.
- Kyle O'Quinn (15 points and 11 rebounds) and Enes Kanter (13 points and 18 rebounds) each had a double-double.
The Knicks return home for a brief respite against the Chicago Bulls. The Knicks are 0-2 against the Bulls this year with two heartbreaking losses and will look to capitalize on a home game during a stretch with a lot of games on the road.
