The Knicks missed Enes Kanter (out with back spasms) and had a major letdown as they fell to the 4-15 Atlanta Hawks. The Knicks led by 15 after the first quarter but faded quickly and were unable to come away with a victory. Their road woes continued as the Knicks are now 1-5 on the road this year.
Courtney Lee missed only one shot in the first half, a jumpshot at the second quarter buzzer. He shot 11/14 from the field and finished with 26 points. He only attempted 3 three pointers, hitting 2, as he did his damage from all over the court.
The Knicks bench was outscored by the Hawks bench 37-16. Doug McDermott played 27 minutes and shot 2/10. Ntilikina had 3 turnovers in only 15 minutes. Lance Thomas scored 0 points in 12 minutes. Hernangomez had the best stat line of the bench player but he looked lost for large portions of the game.
-Willy Hernangomez played a season-high 19 minutes, scoring 6 points and grabbing 7 rebounds
-Jarrett Jack had a career-high 14 assists
-Porzingis scored 28 and THJ scored 22
The Knicks will face the Houston Rockets in the second night of a back-to-back. The Rockets previously blew out the Knicks at MSG but the Knicks will try to avenge that loss in Houston. They'll hope to put up a strong fight but it will be a tough matchup.
